My name is Chris and I live in New Zealand. I wanted to send you a private message to thank you for this beautiful tribute to Señor Vidort. When I started dancing tango in 2011 I was exposed to videos of Ricardo through Rick McGary’s site, and I was amazed by his dance. Watching Ricardo, his musicality was so strong that I heard things in the music I hadn’t heard previously, and his grace and naturalness just astounded me. From that moment to now, Ricardo stands to me as the greatest milonguero I have seen and a model of what tango should be. More so, as I have sought information on Ricardo, it seems he was not only a great dancer and milonguero, but a truly special human being too. I only wish I could have met him in person!
To discover your new site recently, was therefore very exciting for me. So thank you so much. I also wanted to let you know that as far away as the deep South of New Zealand, Ricardo’s thoughts and approach are continuing to have an influence on, and to be held dear by those of us who love the tango. Thanks to my tango teacher Marcelo Almiron I learned today about your project on Ricardo Vidort.
I think that many tangueros all over the world have been expecting this extraordinary testament about life and tango of the great Maestro.
I have been dancing tango for 10 years but all passion for tango and trying to understand what real tango is took place in the moment when I saw Ricardo for the first time, searching for the essence of tango, I came across videos with Maestro.
Not everything in his dance was obvious to me, but there was in his tango something real and captivating. Watching him one felt unusual personality and a certain particular kind of life wisdom stemming from inward spirituality.
The existing videos and interviews were leaving a sort of insatiability, the feeling of a missing clasp to hold His life, His thoughts, His experience and His dance.
Your blog represents such testimony, personal testimony of someone who was close to him, the testimony for which the entire tango world for which Maestro Vidort had been especially important, will be grateful.
In moments of doubt in the sense of tango I return to the videos with him, which gives me strength and faith in what we are doing.
Now I will be able to draw, in such moments, the inspiration from your testimony.

Dear Ewa,
I am reading your text and I am deeply moved. Recently I have read a novel by my favorite author, Julian Barnes, “The only Story”. He writes: “In life many things happen which we turn into stories. But only one counts, only one is worth telling”.
And such is your story. But yours is more so unusual, it has lasted physically only one year, and relatively late in your life. And now it continues for you, it fills your world! It is marvelous. You write about Him so, that all who read fall in love with him and with you, too. You talk beautifully about your love and mutual fascination. It is felt in each of your sentences. His whole life was fascinating and you illuminated it.
I admire you for this work, I admire you for the total ability, without hesitation, to love, to risk, knowing that suffering awaits you…because you knew that you would loose Him soon. But love most likely is that.

Ewa,
Thank you for sending me this. It is good to hear Ricardo talking about
tango again. I am glad you have put all of this together so maybe new
dancers can have a chance to know one of the best. I sometimes feel
like people are losing the meaning of tango and it makes me sad. I have
learned so much from the old milongueros I knew, and Ricardo was very
important among them.
